Language Arts and Math Winter Break Camp.
This program is designed for students taking the Monmouth County Vocational School District entrance exam this upcoming January. It is meant as a crash course where we will cover as much material as possible during the holiday break. The format of the class will be half mathematics topics (3 hours per day) and half language arts topics (3 hours per day).
Math. Instructors will work with each student through the material in their math workbook. This material will be a combination of test-like problems on a number of different key topics. The ratio of instructors to students in the math session is a maximum of 1:4. Additional practice problems will be provided as required; we will complete as much work as possible during the allocated time.
Language Arts. The language arts topics covered will be a combination of reading comprehension and grammar skills. Our language instructor will review topics; students will be provided with a workbook for supplemental review, classwork and homework. The format of the language arts session is a class discussion and practice with a maximum teacher-to-student ratio of 1:12.
Practice Tests. In addition to classwork, students will have access to 8 practice tests (4 math and 4 language arts) via an online portal. These tests go over key concepts; however, they are not comprehensive full-length mock exams. Once completed, students have the opportunity to watch a Zoom recording to review difficult questions.
- 24 hours of small group instruction (12 students max, 4:1 math student-to-teacher ratio)
- 12 hours of math and 12 hours of language.
- Math diagnostic test and customized course material for classwork.
- Daily homework.
- Daily pizza lunch.
Tuesday, December 26th to Friday, December 29th, from 9am-3:30pm. Students will have a 30-minute break to eat a pizza lunch or a lunch brought from home.
